Event Details

Join OCIC for a Breakfast Meeting on the CUSO-VSO and Accenture partnership project in Zanzibar, Tanzania.

In the spirit of internationally agreed development targets, and in particular Millennium Development Goal number 8, 'to develop a global partnership for development', the NGO-Private Sector Partnership between CUSO-VSO and Accenture is a truly innovative and inspirational model. Within this framework, both organizations are collaborating to deliver the Making Markets Work for the Poor project. Building on the success of CUSO-VSO's innovative Secure Livelihoods program, this project is increasing the capacity of local partner organizations to support secure livelihood solutions for Tanzanians.

This breakfast meeting will highlight this partnership model in action with presentations from the Zanzibar Association for Farmers and Fisherman Development in Zanzibar, Tanzania, as well as Accenture and CUSO-VSO.

Presenter:

Ken Wood: Tourism Advisor (VSO Volunteer), Associazione di Cooperazione Rurale in Africa e America Latina (ACRA)

Ken’s Work as a Tourism Advisor with ACRA (Associazione di Cooperazione Rurale in Africa e America Latina) has been engaged in pro-poor tourism on Zanzibar, running small projects in support of cultural tourism, skills development and market linkage from tourism to other sectors. ACRA has various project aims that fit closely with ZEST (Zanzibar Enterprise and Sustainable Tourism Project) and the opportunity has been taken to strengthen programmes through mutual collaboration, finding synergies with ZEST, supporting research and development of SME in the tourism sector and strengthening project management and evaluation.

Meaghon Dunphy: Corporate Partnerships Advisor, CUSO-VSO

Meaghon manages CUSO-VSO’s corporate partnerships. Current partnerships include Accenture, Scotiabank, and Randstad. Corporate partners support CUSO-VSOs work through providing volunteers, expertise, and funding.

****NEW!  We are sad to add that Khadija will not be able to attend as she was unable to obtain her travel visa to Canada.****

Khadija Rajab: Capacity Development Advisor, Zanzibar Association of Farmers and Fishermen's Development (ZAFFIDE), Tanzania

Khadija has been working with ZAFFIDE (Zanzibar Association of Farmers and Fishermen's Development) since its inception in 1996. Her work involves capacity building of farmers and fishers on better farming practices and disseminating the agricultural policy to famers and fishermen.
